ISA Friendly Swimming Gala

ISA Friendly Swimming gala

We hold an annual friendly ISA Swimming Gala. We see these as “personal development” opportunities that allow the children participating from the Intermediate and Advanced Levels the experience of swimming in a longer, deeper and cooler pool. It is about facing up to those differences in the environment, standing in front of their friends, family and the rest of the crowd and boosting their self-esteem.

A life-changing experience

Confidence

Swimming in front of a friendly audience will boost your child’s self-esteem.

Bonding

Friends and family have the opportunity to swim together in our fun relays.

Celebration

This is a celebration of all your child’s successes throughout the course.

Why is the gala key to your child's emotional and physical development?

Our galas are a chance to really see your child’s progress and give them their opportunity to shine! Each race begins with a 10-minute warm-up lesson where they can interact with other swimmers of their level, work on swimming longer distances and get some last-minute tips from our instructors. For some, it may be all about winning the race, but for us, it’s about the experience and seeing how proud our swimmers are of themselves and their amazing achievements!

Can parents get involved in our galas?

We love to see our team and families bonding at our gala events and we encourage parents to get involved. At our previous galas, the bravest parents have jumped in the water to swim together with their children and the teachers in the fun relay!

How do we celebrate children achievements at our galas?

Celebrating achievement and participation is so important for the children. We like to celebrate our galas with parties, with a medal or an award, organising educational activities and, of course, having a lot of fun!!

Who is the gala for?

You will be invited to participate in the event if your child is ready. Selection is not just based on swimming ability; the swimmer’s emotional readiness is also taken into account. Galas are not a compulsory event. If you decide to participate, you will be given all the details in advance, including price. Galas are not included in the termly fees.

Did you know?

Did you know the National Curriculum expects children to be swimming 25 metres between 11-12 years old, when they finish primary school?. We have swimmers as young as 3,5 years old swimming this distance at the ISA Swimming Galas!

Silvia & Miguel,

Words cannot express my gratitude to the both of you for the excellent work you have done for Noah.
He changed from a boy who hated water on his face and eyes to one who can swim powerfully across the pool, with different techniques in his repertoire and with confidence too.

Thank you so much for your patience and firmness.

ISA,

This programme is a very valuable service to have, especially for children of special needs that can not take part in mainstream swimming classes. The level of immersion works really well in combination with the care and sensitivity they have for all the children. This method of teaching shows that anyone can learn to swim, no matter what age or ability!

We are absolutely thrilled with JJ's progress with ISA!

JJ had done a lot of the programme while in Australia but we couldn't find a good swimming school in the UK. So it had been 2 years since his last lesson when he started with ISA. He was very scared of water at the beginning and he used to cling to his instructor... Seeing him, after just one term, floating, swimming and looking forwards to coming to swimming lessons is remarkable! Thank you!

To the ISA team,

William and Finn were camping with their dad in Cornwall last weekend. Chris just texted to say that William was climbing on some rocks by the water, slipped and accidentally, he fell into the water. Immediately rolled onto his back, starfish! then, onto his front and kicked to the shore. He is ok.

What would we do without ISA?

We have been with ISA over a year now and cannot praise the teachers enough!

Our 2 boys have had lessons with all four different teachers who have all been equally caring and firm when required. The technique itself is also very unique with the emphasis on floating early on which gives parents the peace of mind around pools on holidays. The boys now love coming back for lessons and are very comfortable in the water.

We are very happy!

It is always easy to speak to the team with questions, concerns or suggestions and we always get a quick and suitable response...! I was very impressed watching the instructor in-house training to understand more details about your approach.
